Kiara's school year: uniform, books and a laptop
Kiara won a place at Miami Science Academy but the family can't afford the uniform, books and laptop required.

I earned a place in the first year of senior school at Miami Science Academy, and I couldn't be prouder. The school has a long list of things I need, including a laptop for the biology course, and a uniform.
My mother works two jobs, and the list costs $900, which is more than we have.
I love biology and want to become a nurse. A laptop will let me do coursework at home instead of waiting for library hours.
I'll take care of everything you give me and I promise to work hard.
Items on the list: laptop, uniform, shoes, textbooks, calculator and a bag.
Where the $900 goes:
• Laptop: $460
• School uniform and shoes: $135
• Textbooks and workbooks: $190
• Calculator, stationery and a school bag: $115
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

You're not alone, Kiara. Hope you get there. Love from Pietermaritzburg.
Hope things get better soon. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Ibadan.
