Keep a roof over Lena's head in Berlin
A notice to vacate arrived last week. Lena needs $3,000 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Berlin.

After a sudden layoff at the bakery, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,000.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $1,800
• Late fees and court costs: $310
• Utilities in arrears: $180
• First month of rent as a buffer: $710

Take care, Lena. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. God bless.
stay strong, Lena. I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Berlin.
Best of luck, Lena. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Please keep us posted.
