A community fridge for the Pioneer health centre yard: help our neighbors in Kingston
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $1,250 for materials.
🇯🇲 Kingston, Jamaica1,566 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,250.
It will serve about 216 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $125
• Materials: $1,050
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
