Plant 2,850 native trees around the Pioneer hillside in Berlin
Volunteers are restoring the Pioneer hillside in Berlin; $1,700 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇩🇪 Germany1,028 views
The Pioneer hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 82 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 188 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $580
• Tools and protective gear: $370
• Waste removal and skip hire: $620
• Signage and educational materials: $130
With deep gratitude,
Marcel

Keep going. Hope this works out for you. Thinking of Berlin.
Hope it all works out, Marcel. This could happen to any of us. It's not much but it's yours. Blessings.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'll check back for the next update. Greetings from St. Petersburg
gave what I could, wish it was more. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Berlin.
Thanks for sharing this, Marcel. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings.
