I live with profound hearing loss. My occupational therapist at the Los Angeles Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,800. My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 8 weeks. With the right equipment I could get to the shops and visit friends. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $3,800 goes: • First-year servicing plan: $340 • pair of hearing aids: $3,350 • Delivery and set-up: $110 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Keep going, Katherine. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.
