In January I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. My oncology team at the Tarragona Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in April. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 36, I worked as a hairdresser until January, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Tarragona Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $5,600 goes: • Transport to the Tarragona Oncology Institute: $520 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,550 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,100 • Scans and lab work: $430 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Armando
