Home care fund for Shawn in Sacramento
Shawn, 89, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $1,100 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my father, who's 89. After a stroke last August Shawn can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Shawn desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Shawn worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.

• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $330
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $230

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Shawn.
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. medication and prescriptions is the biggest at $540. I'll keep the page updated.
