I'm caring for my mother, who's 94. After a fall and hip fracture Quinn can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Quinn desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Quinn worked all of her life as a schoolteacher, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $2,550
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $280
• Medication and prescriptions: $670

Sending good thoughts, Axel. Wishing Quinn a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

You're not alone. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
