I'm caring for my father, who's 77. After worsening Parkinson's disease Louis can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Louis desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Louis worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $5,050 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $3,650
• Medication and prescriptions: $480
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $390
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $530

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Louis
Part-time carer (six months) is $3,650 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
