A free library and reading room: a volunteer-led effort in Ho
A community-led a free library and reading room at Liberty Park that will serve 508 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Liberty Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 508 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $500 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Materials: $430
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
