Wondimu was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August. The oncology team at Mekelle Regional Medical Center has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Wondimu is 31, worked as a bakery worker until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Mekelle Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $850 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $520 • Transport to Mekelle Regional Medical Center: $145 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $95 • Scans and lab work: $90 Thanks for being kind about this.

Updates from Liya

  1. Small update. $107 so far, the plan for chemotherapy and medication not covered is now scheduled.

  • Sending strength, Liya. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Aberdeen.

    • Wishing you peace, Liya. It takes guts to ask. Well done.

Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless.

        • sending love, Liya. I hope things turn around soon. After 22 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Setagaya.
