Teresa was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in April. The surgeon at Newport Community Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $5,650 short. my daughter has been in and out of Newport Community Hospital since April. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Teresa struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks.
