Dhaka
For nine years I have run a barbershop in Dhaka. In May, a storm that collapsed the roof took clippers, chairs and mirrors. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Thursday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $500 goes: • Initial stock: supplies: $75 • Working capital for the first month: $50 • Replacing clippers, chairs and mirrors: $375 Thanks for reading all this.

Updates from Sumaiya

  1. Small update. $190 so far, I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. - Sumaiya

  2. Thank you all. We're at 31% now ($155). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts.

  3. Update from Dhaka: I made the first payment toward initial stock: supplies. We're at 23% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us. - Sumaiya

So sorry you're going through this, Sumaiya. This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
