Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Wednesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 12 families, and now we feed 93 each week. Donations have dropped by about 34% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Gwagwalada market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $500 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $280 • Refrigeration and electricity: $50 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $170 I hope life is good to you.

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($193 in total) the plan for fresh vegetables and fruit is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 32% funded and I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts.
