Ellie was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July. The oncology team at Mississauga University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Ellie is 27, worked as a taxi driver until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Mississauga University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $7,650 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,850
• Scans and lab work: $820
• Transport to Mississauga University Hospital: $760
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $580
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,640
