Daiki was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in January. The oncology team at Tokyo University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in April. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Daiki is 57, worked as a bus conductor until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Tokyo University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $6,700 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,000
• Scans and lab work: $1,450
• Transport to Tokyo University Hospital: $430
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $320
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,500

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Daiki.
Sure. The biggest one is chemotherapy and medication not covered, $3,000. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.
