Catalin was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in August. The surgeon at Cluj-Napoca Orthopedic Institute recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,150, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,600 short.
my husband has been in and out of Cluj-Napoca Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,150 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Catalin struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Catalin won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.

• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $140
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $630
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $830

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Catalin.
Sure. The biggest one is pre-operative tests and imaging, $140. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.
