Álvaro was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August. The oncology team at Reading Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Álvaro is 29, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Reading Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,950 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,750 • Household costs while unable to work: $800 • Transport to Reading Cancer Centre: $720 • Scans and lab work: $680 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Regina
