Gonzalo needs three industrial sewing machines to reopen a tailoring shop

Gonzalo has run a tailoring shop for four years; a storm that collapsed the roof destroyed the equipment, and $1,250 will put it back on its feet.

For four years I have run a tailoring shop in Ciudad de México. In September, a storm that collapsed the roof took three industrial sewing machines. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Wednesday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go. Where the $1,250 goes: • Replacing three industrial sewing machines: $650 • Initial stock: fabric and thread: $240 • Shop repairs and licensing: $195 • Working capital for the first month: $165 Thanks for reading all this. - Gonzalo

          • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Gonzalo

            • Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. replacing three industrial sewing machines comes first ($650) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
