Shinji was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in August. The oncology team at Fukuoka Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in December. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Shinji is 46, worked as a tailor until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Fukuoka Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $4,650 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $280 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,950 • Transport to Fukuoka Cancer Centre: $630 • Household costs while unable to work: $790 Please ask me anything in the questions section.
