Fighting stomach cancer: help Emery afford treatment in San Diego
Emery is facing stomach cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇺🇸 San Diego, California, United States65 views
Emery was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August. The oncology team at San Diego University Hospital has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 3 weeks.
Emery is 48, worked as a tailor until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to San Diego University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $13,150 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $8,750
• Scans and lab work: $640
• Transport to San Diego University Hospital: $1,250
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $750
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,760
