Edilene was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in October. The oncology team at São Paulo University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in January. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Edilene is 51, worked as a construction supervisor until October, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to São Paulo University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
