Mateo was diagnosed with prostate cancer in April. The oncology team at the Santa Fe Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 8 weeks. Mateo is 57, worked as a primary school teacher until April, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Santa Fe Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $900 goes: • Transport to the Santa Fe Oncology Institute: $250 • Household costs while unable to work: $290 • Scans and lab work: $360 Thank you for reading my story.

    • Good luck, Amparo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.

      • I hope things turn around soon. Put this on a community board in Liverpool this morning.
