Lydia is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In February I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. My oncology team at Glasgow Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in May. I was told to expect about 7 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 50, I worked as a tailor until February, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Glasgow Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,050 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $1,750 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,650 • Scans and lab work: $1,250 • Transport to Glasgow Cancer Centre: $400 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Lydia
