Fighting kidney cancer: help Efe afford treatment in Istanbul
Efe is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In July I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. My oncology team at Istanbul Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in August. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 48, I worked as a construction supervisor until July, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Istanbul Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $320
• Transport to Istanbul Cancer Centre: $250
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $120
• Household costs while unable to work: $560
