Fighting Hodgkin lymphoma: help Andile afford treatment in Pretoria
8 rounds of treatment are planned at the Pretoria Oncology Institute; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

Andile was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August. The oncology team at the Pretoria Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Andile is 25, worked as a shop owner until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Pretoria Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $1,750 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $990
• Scans and lab work: $180
• Transport to the Pretoria Oncology Institute: $160
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $110
• Household costs while unable to work: $310
Thanks for being kind about this.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Andile
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. chemotherapy and medication not covered comes first ($990) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for asking.
Thinking of you. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Greetings from Bangkok
Rooting for you, Beatrix. Your post was clear and honest. Thinking of Pretoria.
Thanks for sharing this, Beatrix. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Sent it to 23 people at work. Greetings from Poitiers.
