Restoring the Lotus wetland: a volunteer-led project in Duluth
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Lotus wetland needs $2,050 for saplings and equipment.

The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 45 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 50 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $540
• Signage and educational materials: $145
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,365

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Isla.
Waste removal and skip hire is $540 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Let me know if you want more detail.
