In July I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My oncology team at Savar Regional Medical Center has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 44, I worked as a hairdresser until July, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Savar Regional Medical Center 2 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $850 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $45
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $700
• Transport to Savar Regional Medical Center: $105
