Fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia: help Rachel afford treatment in Ekurhuleni
Rachel is facing acute lymphoblastic leukemia and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

In August I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. My oncology team at Ekurhuleni Regional Medical Center has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in November. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 52, I worked as a shop owner until August, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Ekurhuleni Regional Medical Center 3 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $850
• Transport to Ekurhuleni Regional Medical Center: $95
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $255
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Hope it all works out, Rachel. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in San Jose but we're thinking of you. Blessings.
Take care, Rachel. I hope things turn around soon. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Greetings from Likoni.
Stay strong, Rachel. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
Hang in there, Rachel. Hope you get there. God bless.
