I'm caring for my father, who's 94. After a fall and hip fracture Fernando can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Fernando desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Fernando worked all of his life as a nurse, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $1,100
• Medication and prescriptions: $185
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $125
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $140
