The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Pune is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Friday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 16 families, and now we feed 393 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 48% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Pune market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $210
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $210
• Baby formula and diapers: $80

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($210) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.
