Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Wednesday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 27 families, and now we feed 215 each week. Donations have dropped by about 33% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Guarulhos market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $600 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $220 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $180 • Baby formula and diapers: $120 • Refrigeration and electricity: $80 I hope life is good to you.

Updates from Luana

  1. Quick update: $139 raised so far (23%). I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($69 in total) the first invoice got paid this week. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

rooting for you, Luana. Hope you get there!

      • Stay strong, Luana. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
