After a long illness, Teguh is 3 months behind on rent and has a termination letter from the landlord.

After a sudden layoff at the bakery, Teguh fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a termination letter was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $300. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by July, the family must leave. There are two young children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Teguh has started working two part-time jobs, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $300 goes: • Rent arrears (3 months): $230 • Late fees and court costs: $40 • Utilities in arrears: $30 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

  • Sending good thoughts. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless

    • you're not alone, Fani. Your post was clear and honest. All the best.
