Earthquake in Brescia: help the Sunrise settlement rebuild

Neighbors in the Sunrise settlement are rebuilding after the earthquake; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The earthquake hit the Sunrise settlement on 19 June. My home was one of 43 damaged, and 11 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $3,250 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $450 • Roofing sheets and timber: $1,400 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $360 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,040 Glad we found this place. - Teresa

Hope it all works out, Teresa. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. All the best

Sending good thoughts. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
