Dignity in old age: caring for Seydou
Seydou, 85, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $5,250 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for me, who's 85. After a diagnosis of dementia Seydou can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Seydou desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Seydou worked all of his life as a seamstress, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $5,250 goes:
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $510
• Medication and prescriptions: $550
• Part-time carer (three months): $4,190

Thinking of you. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Seydou
Sure. The biggest one is mobility aids and bathroom adaptations, $510. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
