Companionship wanted: Kioko's knitting and a cup of tea

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Kioko is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Kioko, who's 90. Kioko lives alone in Arusha, and lost a son last year. The nearest family lives on the other side of the country. Kioko loves knitting, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Tuesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Blessings.

Thinking of you, James. Hope the doctors have good news. I'll check back for the next update

      • Best of luck. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
