Companionship wanted: Dereje's birdwatching and a cup of tea

I'm writing for my neighbor Dereje, who's 79. Dereje lives alone in Adama, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives a long flight away.
Dereje loves birdwatching, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Sunday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person.
All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity.
No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience.
