Clement's early-stage lung cancer treatment fund
6 rounds of treatment are planned at the Tarkwa Oncology Institute; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.
🇬🇭 Tarkwa, Western, Ghana370 views
In July I was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer. My oncology team at the Tarkwa Oncology Institute has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 49, I worked as a construction supervisor until July, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Tarkwa Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $680
• Scans and lab work: $260
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $110
With deep gratitude,
Clement

Thinking of you, Clement. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
