ACL reconstruction for Fitri: covering what insurance won't
Fitri needs ACL reconstruction at Kediri Regional Medical Center and the family is $1,100 short of the hospital's estimate.

In March I was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly. My surgeon at Kediri Regional Medical Center recommended ACL reconstruction, and I have been placed on the schedule for May. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,450, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $1,100 short.
Doctors at Kediri Regional Medical Center told me a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without ACL reconstruction. I work as a delivery rider, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,450 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a delivery rider have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
