Clean water and shade for Los Angeles: restoring the Lotus wetland
Help us clean and replant the Lotus wetland before the April planting window closes.
🇺🇸 Los Angeles, California, United States1,381 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 80 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 178 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,050
• Tools and protective gear: $390
• Waste removal and skip hire: $310
• Signage and educational materials: $300
Glad we found this place.

Thanks for sharing this. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Thinking of Los Angeles.
Hang in there, Jacob. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings
