Clean water and shade for Jakarta: restoring the Liberty riverbank
Help us clean and replant the Liberty riverbank before the November planting window closes.
🇮🇩 Jakarta, DKI Jakarta, Indonesia198 views
The Liberty riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 60 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 139 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $175
• Tools and protective gear: $35
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $20
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Dinda
Native saplings and stakes is $175 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Happy to explain more.
Hope this works out for you. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Calgary.
can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Jakarta.
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about native saplings and stakes, advice is welcome too. It helps to be asked.
Sending love, Dinda. Your post was clear and honest.
Take care, Dinda. Looking forward to the next update. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Thinking of you, Dinda. This could happen to any of us. It's not much but it's yours.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
