Clean streets and rivers for Orlando: restoring Baobab Beach
Help us clean and replant Baobab Beach before the September planting window closes.
🇺🇸 United States1,274 views
Baobab Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 118 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 176 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,800
• Tools and protective gear: $280
• Waste removal and skip hire: $290
• Signage and educational materials: $280

Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 8 years in engineering I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Love from Dar es Salaam.
More neighborhoods should do this. Sent it to 5 people at work. Thinking of Orlando
Rooting for you, Arianna. It takes guts to ask. Well done. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust
