Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Saturday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 161 each week. Donations have dropped by about 48% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mumbai market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $600 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $300 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $190 • Baby formula and diapers: $85 • Refrigeration and electricity: $25 Thank you for reading my story. - Rohit

  • hang in there, Rohit. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
