Clean streams for Kolkata: restoring Pioneer Beach
Volunteers are restoring Pioneer Beach in Kolkata; $350 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇳 India319 views
Pioneer Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 75 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 108 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $350 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Tools and protective gear: $45
• Native saplings and stakes: $280
I hope life is good to you.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Taslima?
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about signage and educational materials, advice is welcome too.
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Greetings from Kharkiv.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Taslima
Sure. The biggest one is signage and educational materials, $25. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.
Take care, Taslima. I hope things turn around soon
Wishing you peace. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
best of luck, Taslima. Shared it with a few friends. Don't give up. Love from Nashik
