Restoring Lotus Beach: a volunteer-led project in Dwarka
A neighborhood-led restoration of Lotus Beach needs $300 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇳 Dwarka, Delhi, India1,291 views
Lotus Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 37 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 84 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $145
• Tools and protective gear: $70
• Waste removal and skip hire: $75
• Signage and educational materials: $10
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Dwarka.
Thank you. If you're in Dwarka I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
Hope you get there. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best.
any update on how things are going in Dwarka?
Sending good thoughts, Ajay. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Angeles.
Good luck. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Put this on a community board in Mumbai this morning. God bless.
