I'm caring for my father, who's 76. After worsening Parkinson's disease Jacob can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Jacob desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Jacob worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,750 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $280
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $200
• Part-time carer (eight months): $4,270
