I'm caring for my father, who's 96. After a diagnosis of dementia Berhanu can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Berhanu desperately wants to stay at home. I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Berhanu worked all of his life as a carpenter, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $500 goes: • Part-time carer (six months): $380 • Medication and prescriptions: $60 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $60 If you're reading this, thank you. - Mulu

  • Praying for you, Mulu. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out.

    • You're not alone. Get well soon. We're a small family in Laval but we're thinking of you.

      • Stay strong. Your post was clear and honest. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

        • Wishing you peace, Mulu. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.

          • Hang in there. This could happen to any of us. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Jimma

Keep going, Mulu. Looking forward to the next update. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
