Bennett needs a lift to the Los Angeles Dialysis Unit - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to the Los Angeles Dialysis Unit would keep Bennett on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Bennett has been on dialysis for 5 years and until recently drove to the Los Angeles Dialysis Unit alone. After surgery on their hand, Bennett can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 11 km each way. Bennett is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Thanks for sharing this, Shirley. Hope the doctors have good news!

    • Hope it all works out. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Blessings.

      • Best of luck, Shirley. This could happen to any of us. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like

Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.

          • It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 29 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
