Setagaya
Aoi is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a law degree at Setagaya Polytechnic, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,650. The registrar has said Aoi can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Aoi has a top-ten-percent average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Aoi would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Aoi isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Setagaya Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $3,650 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,500 • Final term tuition: $940 • Exam and lab fees: $60 • Textbooks and materials: $150 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Hina

  • Hope things get better soon, Hina. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Wish I lived closer to Jeddah so I could bring a meal. Love from Çankaya.

    • Sending good thoughts. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Setagaya

      • I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Davao City but we're thinking of you. Take care
