I'm caring for me, who's 76. After a stroke last August Ali can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Ali desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Ali worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $950 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $720
• Medication and prescriptions: $150
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $25
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $55
